Kelsey's Baby Bedding

When my friend told me she was pregnant, I got this crazy idea. And then I proceeded to blurt it out in a question format to my friend, before really thinking what I might be getting myself into! I had asked her if she would like me to make the baby bed stuff- she said yes.

That happened in early October. We had attempted to meet several times so she could pick out the fabric, but it never seemed to work out. So instead she gave me this requirement, "make it girly." I was in a panic trying to figure out what colors to use, what type of pattern, etc. I was so afraid that she wasn't going to like it.

I delivered the baby quilt, hanging organizer, and bed skirt to her on Wednesday and assured her that the bumpers were on its way. She said she loved it, as did everyone else. Here are the finished pieces minus the bumpers and the bed skirt. The bumpers will just be solid brown. I didn't take a picture of the bed skirt yet either because there wasn't a good way to do it. The bed skirt is brown with pink polka dots. I think I'll take a picture once she gets it all in the room.

  1. Allison! You did such a wonderful job!! Those look fantastic.

FYI- I don't know if you've ever heard of it or not, but there is a site called etsy.com where you go on and start your own store. Say, if you did it, you could post pictures in your store like you did on here, and take orders. It is a really cool site for all handmade products. I don't know if you like doing this enough to start a business, but I would definitely buy that stuff from you...not for me of course, for a friend having a baby. ;)

Great job though, you should be proud. I can't wait to see the rest of it.

I kind of want one of those hanging organizers for my hair things. I could put headbands in one pocket, creams and hairsprays in another...I could fill that thing up. :)

  2. Thanks Angi! I'm really excited that people really like it! =]

No, I have never heard of that but a I'll keep that in mind. Kalista actually made a comment about doing it on the side and selling stuff. I would assume that I would get faster at doing it and it wouldn't take as long. I'll have to see.. it was kind of expensive.

The organizer isn't separated, it's just a big pocket with a velcro piece to it. However, I could probably easily sew down the center and make each have two pockets. If you really want one, I'll make it. That piece wasn't very hard. And of course, you can choose whatever fabric you want. This particular pattern called for the back to be one color and then each pocket could be a different color- however I thought all pink looked the best here.

    Anywho-- glad you like it!

  3. P.S.
OR you could make it and I'll teach you! Then you can cross "learn to sew" off your 101 things! =]
